Chinese First Original Experimental Dance Drama “Nirvana” Premieres in North America
On December 2, Lucy Xie’s original experimental dance drama nirvana was premiered at the Bonita Art Center in LA. This work embodies her years of rich stage experience, and breaks the boundaries of traditional dance drama, using elements of classical dance and modern dance. It also combines with a distinct personal style, which reflects modern people’s retrospection of life. The dance drama expresses the ultimate philosophical thought: “Who am I? Where am I from? Where am I going?” This masterpiece is a bold breakthrough and attempt, reflecting the choreographer’s thinking on the meaning of life.
The strong lineup of more than 40 performers from LA, San Francisco, and Beijing presented a wonderful performance for the audience. Beautiful background, sound, and lights formed a powerful visual impact. The dance performance will definitely add a lot of color to the festival events at the end of the year.
Lucy Xie, an excellent dancer, choreographer, and teacher, is remarkable at communicating emotions with body language and telling different life stories through dance. She has been engaged in dance for more than 30 years and has accumulated rich stage experience, becoming an excellent professional dancer at the national level and creating a large number of works that are deeply loved by the audience from more than 20 countries.
In order for Xie Lou, the screenwriter, director, and actor, to make production at the highest level, he invited professional dancers of the Oriental Dance Troupe from the San Francisco, lighting designers from the Beijing Academy of Dance, and various visual producers in North America. It took two years of special effects, endless orchestration, and planning to have the 40 person dance troup in LA, San Francisco, Beijing, Taiwan.
